Tips for Organizing a Laundry Closet

If your goal this year is getting rid of clutter, then you may have plans to organize your kitchen, bedroom and home office. Ironically, though, the place where you do a lot of cleaning is probably not on that list. Many people ignore their laundry room, but you can remedy that with these tips for organizing a laundry closet.

Rearrange

Store your cleaning products according to how you use them. Things that are not used too often should go somewhere that is not in the way. Choose a place within reach for cleaning products that are used frequently. Try using a caddy or basket to store general cleaning supplies.

Use rolling carts or bins

Throwing clothes on the floor only invites more clutter, and items of apparel can easily get lost in the mess. Using rolling carts or bins creates a place to store laundry. The carts can also act as a place to sort clothes before they are washed.

Make the most of your space

If you have a large laundry room, add a folding table. The folding table acts as a staging spot for laundry folding and sorting after the laundry is cleaned. Also, hang a line so any clothing items that require hanging to dry have a place to do so. If your space is small, consider buying items that are collapsible and items that you can hang on the wall.

Laundry rooms are often the most neglected places in the house when it comes to organization. This lack of organization leads to inefficient space usage, lost clothing and clutter. Following these helpful tips can turn your laundry room into a functioning, clean space.
